Clarence Walker Jr. Memorial Junior Tennis Tournament
Chicago Prairie Tennis Club is the organizer of two USTA sanctioned tournaments in May and June of each year. The Clarence Walker Jr. Memorial Junior Tournament is held over the Memorial Day weekend at the Lake Meadows Tennis Center, 3211 South Ellis in Chicago. Junior tennis players from throughout the Midwest compete in singles competition for boys and girls ages 10 to 18. The tournament also features a consolation round. Clarence Walker was a crafty tennis player and a major contributor and developer of our Junior Development Program. He was also a community activist, educator and a CPTC member for many years. In June of 1989 Clarence passed on and in 1990 the Junior Tuley Open was renamed the Clarence Walker Memorial Tennis Tournament. This year the 2010 Clarence Walker Junior Memorial Tournament will be held during the Memorial Day weekend; Saturday, May 29 through Monday, May 31.

Chris Scott Memorial Tournament
The Chris Scott Memorial Tournament is also held at the Lake Meadows Tennis Center. This an adult sanctioned tournament that features doubles and singles tennis play. The late Chris Scott was an icon in the tennis community and taught tennis for more than 20 years. Chris produced players on both local and national level. Chris was a player, coach and teaching professional. He was a CPTC officer and Junior Development coordinator. Chris passed away in October of 1989. In 1990, the Tuley Park Open for adults became the Chris Scott Memorial Tournament. In 2010, the tournament will be held June 11 through June 13.

Tri-City Tournament
The Tri-City tournament is an annual event that takes place over the Labor Day Weekend. Three sister clubs, Chicago Prairie Tennis Club in Chicago, the Motor City Tennis Club in Detroit and the Forest City Tennis Club in Cleveland compete for possession of the Mother Seames trophy. The tournament rotates between the cities each year. In 2010, the 65th annual Tri-City Tournament will be hosted in Chicago, September 4th through 6th. The tournament features, singles and doubles play, a Sunday night banquet and a host of other activities for the small sum of $55 per player, plus membership in one of the three tennis clubs. The Tri-City Tournament is always a great time in any city.
